The primary functions of the team are competition, representation of Virginia Tech, sportsmanship, and continued exposure of roller hockey to the public. The team has made nationals appearances in 2013, 2014, 20. The VT Roller Hockey Team is a Divison III team that competes in tournaments throughout the southeastern United States at locations including Snellville, GA and Apex, NC from late October to early March. Other members of our league include Florida State University, Kennesaw State University, University of Tampa, University of South Carolina, James Madison University, and more. Our goal is to give students an opportunity to play competitive golf in an exciting and fun-filled environment that builds bonds united by a common interest.Ĭontact: David Borchard, in the fall of 1998, the Virginia Tech Roller Hockey Team competes against other colleges and universities through the Southeastern Collegiate Roller Hockey League (SECRHL) as a part of the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA). The VTGC offers students an opportunity to gain valuable experience on the golf course. Qualifying rounds within our club are held for each of these tournaments. As a member of the National Collegiate Golf Club Association, the VTGC is able to compete against several other university golf clubs in tournaments held twice a semester. We are open to those who want to learn and have plans to give weekly lessons.
The VTGC has no handicap or prior experience requirements, but it is aimed at serious golfers. However, in the fall of 2004, we were fortunate to become an actual club sport sponsored by the university. The VTGC was established in spring 2003 as a student organization at Virginia Tech. The club tries to schedule at least one big event each semester in which the members of the club take a weekend trip to various resorts across the nation.
These events generally follow the format of interclub competitions, tournaments, intercollegiate events, and weekly practices. The Virginia Tech Golf Club (VTGC) plans and organizes golf related events for its members, both male and female.
